stand alone. Even if you are accustomed to driving large vehicles, there are many things that you have to learn, and it is assumed that it will take about 8 months to 1 year after joining the company.
[About assigned department]
There are currently 9 drivers responsible for driving large freight vehicles. The age ranges from the late 40s to the 60s, and all of them joined the company mid-career. In addition to those who also had a previous job as a large driver, there are also people who have changed from completely different industries such as food and drink.
Regarding the reason for joining the company, there were voices such as "I didn't have good interpersonal relationships at my previous job, but I felt that the employees of Konoike Transport had a good personality" and "I felt that I could work for a long time because the salary and treatment were good." I was asked. In addition, the work is not that hard, and the retention rate is very high. Some are veterans who have been with us for over 30 years!
----- Comments from the interviewer -----
[Impression of the company from the interview]
Founder started business in Osaka in 1880. Since then, the company has developed its business mainly in the transportation business for more than 140 years. Port transportation, warehousing, marine transportation, air cargo transportation, food distribution, etc., we have expanded our business one after another. In addition, we have group companies in countries around the world, such as the United States, China, Mexico, India, Germany, etc. In 2013, we were listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange (currently Prime). Currently, we have more than 160 sales offices in Japan and more than 10,000 employees, making us a leading company in the industry.
This time, we are looking for drivers to drive cargo vehicles such as excavators, forklifts, and tractors at the premises of a major steel manufacturer that is a business partner of the company. You will be involved in transportation infrastructure, such as manufacturing parts for railways and automobiles. We would like to recommend this company to those who want to take advantage of their large driver's license to slowly improve their skills and career in a stable environment!
[Rewarding and rigor of this job]
[Rewarding] You can feel the rewarding of supporting social infrastructure.
We will be responsible for transporting the scraps necessary for manufacturing and processing railroad wheels and automobile parts, which are social infrastructure essential to people's lives. If the work at this position stops, processing will not be possible, and in extreme cases, cars and trains will not be able to move. For that reason, they can feel the reward of "we are supporting the infrastructure". Another attraction of this job is being able to see the parts that they have been involved in being used in stations and around town.
* The fun of being able to communicate with people in charge of various companies.
On the premises of Nippon Steel, where I am assigned, staff from various cooperating companies are working. There are also opportunities to communicate with people from other companies, and it seems that there are times when they can have friendly conversations. For those who like to talk to people, it may be a stimulating and interesting environment.
[Severity] There are scenes that make you realize the difficulty of driving a large vehicle.
There is not much space in the premises, and there are places where the width of the vehicle is just barely there. Therefore, if you are driving a large vehicle for the first time, you may feel the pressure of having to hold the steering wheel more carefully until you get used to it.
[Suitable & unsuitable for this job]
[Suitable people] Those who want to work in a stable management company.
The company is a long-established company with a history of over 140 years. In addition to being listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime and having many bases both in Japan and overseas, it boasts a high name recognition in the industry. It is perfect for those who want to work for a stable management company with many transactions with major companies.
[Who is not suitable] Those who are not good at communicating with people.
On the premises of Nippon Steel, where the work is being done, you will interact with not only members of the same team, but also people in charge from various companies, including people from outside the company. It is not suitable for those who are not good at communicating with people.
